The full meal deal on the bge

  1. Hello,

I am a very disgruntled mass produced gas grill owner. I bought a mid level gas grill two years ago and after this year it is about used up. The burners are already pitted and not working well, and the cheapo metal base almost melted through on my last cookout!

I have been researching grills for a purchase in the off season and everyting I read screams "Little Green Egg". I would love to be able to smoke as well as grill and the versatility of the Egg is amazing. The quality of construction makes me think I would not need to buy another grill for some time.

So my only questions are these, and I apologise if they are real basic and you have answered them a million times:
-How long is it from lighting up the charcoal to actual cooking? What I mean is how much warm up time does the LGE need?

-How does the exterior hold up to the elements? I would think after use it stays too warm to cover for some time?

Again, sorry for my beginner questions but any help is appreciated!

  2. It takes about 20 minutes to heat up depending on what temperature you are looking for or want to cook. TRex (full flame)in fifteen minutes or so or slower heating to lower but constant temperatures requires a little more time like in the 20 minute range, but if you learn to lite it and then do your food prep you won't notice. It does stay pretty warm for awhile, yes, you can't slap on a vinyl cover minutes afterwards. Keep On Eggin' Or START Eggin' you will NEVER GO BACK!
